Shirlington and Fairlington Are Historic Urban Villages With Tons Of Charm

Only 16 minutes from Washington D.C., Fairlington and Shirlington villages located in Arlington County have gained in popularity during the recent years due to their historic roots, cultural diversity and recreational amenities. They are designated as “urban villages.” Fairlington was created in the 1940s by the government when there was a housing shortage during World War II. The village provided homes for government employees, military workers, and wartime executives who traveled from the village to Washington for work. Shirlington was slowly established in 1944 as it grew into an arts and entertainment district for the village of Fairlington.

New developments are being built there every day as people are bound to find the homes that are perfect for their lifestyles.
