Revitalized Penn Quarter/Chinatown Offering Entertainment To Visitors And Residents

Along the East End of downtown Washington D.C. lies the Penn Quarter neighborhood with a focus on arts and entertainment. Chinatown offers a large range of restaurants, movie theaters, shops and a bowling alley. One of the major commercial venues in this neighborhood is the Verizon Center. Once known as the MCI Center, it is a major sporting arena for the NBA, WNBA, NHL, and college men’s basketball teams. The Verizon Center also hosts concerts, has a movie theater, and a bowling alley as it brings in tourists and residents every year.

Special Events

Every year, Penn Quarter and Chinatown holds special events for the community. The Downtown DC Holiday Market in Penn Quarter allows people to shop for the holiday season as there are over 180 exhibitors along with food and live entertainment. Chinatown hosts the annual Chinese New Year. It is a parade filled with dances and live music as people enjoy the festival atmosphere.


Looking for good old-fashion American food? How about dining on Mediterranean or Japanese dishes? Penn Quarter has all these restaurants and so much more for hungry residents. Get surf and turf at The Capital Grill which offers the tastiest entrees around. When you have some free time with the friends, everyone can head to District of Pi for delicious pizza and craft beers.

When looking for dining in Chinatown, there is an eclectic array of meals to choose from that include Pub food, African, Portuguese and Latin American in addition to Chinese and Asian cuisine. Some places to stop at include Momjii for sushi, Zaytinya for Mediterranean meals or Chop’t Creative Salad for American vegetarian dishes.
